Curatorial & Creative Practice
Over more than 15 years, I have developed and curated multi-arts programs, public experiences and participatory projects that bring people together through culture, creativity and play. My practice sits at the intersection of curatorial thinking, creative producing and cultural development, creating spaces for dialogue, connection and meaningful cultural exchange.
I have shaped artistic and public programs for nationally recognised festivals and cultural events, including Woodford Folk Festival and BIGSOUND, developing programming that is First Nations-led, inclusive and grounded in artistic integrity while fostering cultural and commercial exchange. Alongside artistic direction and creative producing, I have curated conversations and ideas, bringing together artists, researchers, industry leaders and communities to explore the issues shaping contemporary cultural life.
My curatorial work includes developing talks and ideas programs for Woodford Folk Festival and The Planting, creating series such as Rites of Passage, Environment and Our Rights Under Law, Music Industry Export and Development and The Fix Australia. Across these programs, I have worked with diverse voices to create thoughtful public conversations that encourage participation, reflection and exchange.
As a creative producer, I have originated and delivered large-scale participatory works including Festival of Fortune, Monster Siege, A Village Called and Jugger Siege—projects that transform public space into shared experiences of play, imagination and collective creativity.
My practice has extended across libraries, galleries, festivals and communities. At State Library of Queensland, I developed engagement programs for children and families, including An Extraordinary Day, a whole-of-library celebration marking the institution's 120th anniversary. For Arts Tasmania, I collaborated with the shell necklace makers of Lutruwita/Tasmania to support branding and export pathways, contributing to the development of the Luna Kunalartija (Shell Necklace Woman) exhibition. I also conceived AIR (Artists in Radio), an initiative connecting Tasmanian musicians with new audiences through local radio.
Today, I continue to collaborate as a guest curator, creative producer and artistic programmer, working with organisations to develop cultural experiences, public programs and creative initiatives that are collaborative, place-responsive and grounded in meaningful participation.
Alongside this work, I maintain an independent studio practice. I write poetry and songs, occasionally perform comedy, and work with clay to create functional ceramic forms inspired by the landscapes and places that have shaped my life. Across all aspects of my practice, I remain interested in how creativity can deepen connection, spark curiosity and help people experience places, ideas and each other in new ways.
Let’s Talk Culture
I love talking about how culture creates real impact across industries, and I'm known for making complex ideas feel exciting and actionable. I break down silos between sectors to find the common ground that makes cultural value click for diverse audiences..
I'm available for keynotes, panels, commissioned writing, radio and workshops. Here's what I'm into:
Why culture matters (everywhere) – How does culture strengthen social impact? Can we measure its role in education, tourism, or sports? Short answer: yes, and the frameworks are more interesting than you'd think. I help audiences understand the connectivity between sectors and why that matters for their work.
Understanding cultural engagement today – I bring current insights on audience behaviour and cultural participation in Australia and globally, with the context you need to see where things are shifting and why it matters.
