Role

Consultant Curator & Lead Project Manager

Overview

Commissioned as Consultant Curator, I worked alongside State Library of Queensland to develop and curate a year-long program celebrating the institution's 120th anniversary. The program combined public engagement, stakeholder events and cultural programming to celebrate one of Queensland's most significant cultural institutions while showcasing the breadth of its collections, in-house staff expertise and public value.

A centrepiece of the anniversary was An Extra-ordinary Day, a whole-of-library celebration that welcomed more than 6,000 visitors for behind-the-scenes tours, exhibitions, workshops, talks, performances and interactive experiences. The anniversary program also included a formal cocktail celebration for donors and stakeholders attended by the Patron of the State Library of Queensland, the Governor of Queensland.

Working closely with library staff, I co-curated much of the public program, creating opportunities for specialist staff to share their knowledge with audiences who would not ordinarily experience the remarkable work undertaken across the Library each day.
